Terms of sale and disclaimer

Last updated November 7, 2026

These terms cover buying and using The Hardest House on the Block, a set of digital books (PDF files) sold at jackieshawsafety.com by Senior Guide Books ("we", "us"). By buying or using the books, you agree to them. Questions: seniorguidebooks@gmail.com.

What you're buying

Digital books only. Nothing is shipped. After you pay, you're taken to a download page with your books and the printable toolkit, and you can come back to it any time. It's one payment, with no subscription.

Payment

Checkout and payment are handled by Stripe, and Stripe's own terms apply to the payment. We never see your full card number. Sales tax is added at checkout where it applies. Prices are in US dollars. The sale price on the page lasts for a set time from your first visit, then the regular price applies.

The 7-day promise

If the books aren't what you hoped, write to us within 7 days of buying and we'll refund what you paid. You can keep the books. If a file won't open, write to us and we'll fix it or send it again.

Using the books

The books are for your own household. Print as many copies as you like for yourself and your family. Please don't resell them, post them online or share the files or the download page publicly. The text, diagrams and design are copyright © 2026 The Hardest House on the Block.

Disclaimer: please read

The books are general safety information, not legal, medical, financial, fire-safety or professional security advice. No book can make a home or a person completely safe, and following these books doesn't guarantee any outcome.

Laws, building and fire codes, leases and products differ from place to place and change. Before you buy, install or change anything, check your own state and town's rules, your lease, and the maker's instructions, and hire a licensed professional for electrical, gas, structural or grab-bar work. Never block your own way out in a fire. For anything about your health or your medicines, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Prices, phone numbers and scam details were checked as of November 2026 and can change. In an emergency, call 911. If you've been scammed, call your bank first.

Product and company names belong to their owners, who haven't endorsed the books.

About Jackie

Jackie Shaw is a character. Her stories are composites: names, places and details are changed or combined, and none of them describes a real case or a real person.

Limits of our responsibility

You use the books at your own risk. The books are provided as they are, without warranties of any kind, as far as the law allows. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss, damage or injury that comes from using the books or the information in them, and our total liability for anything to do with your purchase is limited to the amount you paid. Nothing in these terms takes away any right you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.

Changes

We may update these terms. The version that applies is the one on this page when you buy. We also improve the books from time to time, and your download page always has the latest edition.
